A friend has these words on her business card: “Alone we go fast, together we go far.”

It is tempting to go it alone, we talk about agility and quick-reaction and this is true. However I realised a while ago that what I missed the most from my corporate days was the interaction with colleagues, the banter of course but more so the way you bring an idea and together we grow it, we better it and we bring it to life.

Furthermore (Myers-Briggs, again I hear you say), I’m an extravert so to be top of my game I need others to learn and create with/from.

Nowadays I’m recreating these interactions, virtually and in person, and I can see and feel the shift both in my outlook and my output.

So if you don’t already have a circle of supporters (not fans!), of peers, of mentors, of people who share your values but do things differently (the latter, creatively that is pure awesomeness), I suggest you go about creating it.

You may not have an instant return, relationships take time, but you’re making way for more fulfillment , enjoyment and success in your working life.

What do you think?
